IAN ARENA
Ian is an MBA candidate at Columbia Business School, where he is a Feldberg Fellow. Prior to attending CBS, Ian was a partner and associate portfolio manager at Corriente Advisors, LLC, a Texas-based thematic macro hedge fund, where he generated investment ideas, conducted equity analysis, and assisted with portfolio management. He helped refine the firm’s investment process and was a founding member of its current fund.
Ian is a private investor and was responsible for sourcing, evaluating and structuring the Corriente partners’ private investments, which consisted of lead and follow-on investments in early- and growth-stage, technology-focused companies. He is a member of the board of directors of Omnitron Sensors, Inc., a startup seeking to develop a new manufacturing process to revolutionize MEMS technology.
Prior to Corriente, Ian worked for Privateer Capital Management, LP in Austin, TX, where he performed due diligence and valuation for the firm’s energy-focused equity portfolio.
Ian earned a B.A. in Plan II Honors and Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, where he actively was involved with his fraternity and was a Silver Spur. He also attended Phillips Exeter Academy, where he was a passionate volunteer for Best Buddies International. He holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Mexico, and married his wife, Molly, in 2019.
